A graduate of Emerson College, Katie Shannon is a Boston based filmmaker and founder of Thompson Films and co-owner of Loose Canon. 

Katie is the creator and director of K&A web series that has been screened in several film festivals across the country and recently was a finalist in BRAVO TV Pitch contest. Gay Camp won best comedic short film at ITVfest Film Festival. Her company has also produced the film Amy D and dramatic short Jack & Em

She released her first feature length documentary entitled 113 Days, in which she followed the Stonehill Women’s Lacrosse team in their 2012 season. The film was the recipient of the Oak Foundation Grant in January.

As an advocate for the LGBTQ community, she has written and directed several short films. The Morning After was an official selection to several festivals including the 2013 Boston LGBTQ Film Festival and Boston Independent Film Festival. Her prior shortfilm, A Square With Three Sides, was an official selection of the Chicago Reeling Film Festival, The Santa Barbara Outrageous LGBTQ Film Festival, The and London LGBTQ Film Festival.

She's currently in post-production for two short films she wrote and directed. A sequel to the The Morning After and Lakeside Ave. 

Katie is also on the programming chair for the Boston Wicked Queer Film Festival and an adjunct professor at Stonehill College.

K&A: Creator

Set in the city of Boston, best friends Karly and Alex, try their best at adulting, but seem to continually fail miserably. K&A started as a web series with Season 1 online. The show received a grant from the town of Dover, Vermont where they filmed their mini-movie Gay Camp. In August 2017, they filmed a television length pilot called Lost & Found and are currently in post-production.
