About Thompson Films and Katie Shannon

A graduate of Emerson College, Katie is a Boston based filmmaker and founder of Thompson Films.  

Katie is the creator and director of 617 The Series, a comedic web series that chronicles the lives of six twenty-somethings in Boston and features rapper turned actor, Slaine  ("The Town", "Gone Baby Gone", and "Killing Them Softly"). The series recently released a second season on the ZoomTilt YouTube network. The series work has reached over 20,000 YouTube views and counting.

She is currently in post-production for her first feature length documentary entitled 113 Days, in which she followed the Stonehill Women’s Lacrosse team in their 2012 season.

The film was the recipient of the Oak Foundation Grant in January.

As an advocate for the LGBT community, she has written and directed two short films, The Morning After and Left Unsaid, which are currently in festival submissions. The Morning After  is an official selection to the 2013 Boston LGBT Film Festival. Her prior short film, A Square With Three Sides, was an official selection of the Chicago Reeling Film Festival, The Santa Barbara Outrageous LGBT Film Festival, The London LGBT Film Festival, The San Diego LGBT Film Festival, and the Melbourne LGBT Film Festival.

She is currently in pre-production on a new comedic web series titled K+A and in development of two feature length films, A-Town and The Things Stolen.
